ODM Has Learnt To Always Fly With UDA Politicians In Choppers, Sifuna Explains While In Nyakach
Saturday marked the day of the burial of Tom Ojienda's mother in Nyakach, Kisumu County. All and sundry thronged the ceremony to pay last respects to the Senator's loving mother.
Among the mourners were, ODM Secretary General and Nairobi's senator, Edwin Sifuna, his Kericho counterpart, Aaron Cheruiyot together with local mourners.
Politics took center stage and it was all ODM, UDA and Kenya Kwanza administration talks. It became interesting when Sifuna rose to the podium to express his sorrow to his colleague for losing a parent. He said the following:
"I am Sifuna and I will speak as party's Sec Gen, am here to mourn the mother of my friend. In this space, I would also like to pass a reminder and inform you that we have strategies that we will employ to reject the finance bill knowing very well the constraints that you go through as a result of the harsh economy.
I have written close to 86 letters to our members informing them not to go anywhere outside of Nairobi until the day of the removal of the bill is done.
I know you have also seen me here with Cheruiyot, I want to say we are not together, I have noticed the behaviour and pattern in which choppers fall from the sky and we as ODM have learnt something. If we were to travel by helicopter, we told ourselves to always make sure that any UDA member was flying with us so that if anything were to happen, it would be a loss to both our parties and that becomes a draw."
As he concluded, mourners couldn't control themselves in laughter as he promised them to fight for the greater good of everyone. He passed pieces of advice to some of UDA leaders including, ICT CS Eliud Owalo and the deputy president that when they talk to citizens, they should portray national status, that is, to speak to them using national languages, also not traverse to places they are familiar with, instead focus to the entire nation.
