A Look Into How African Regions Have Been Divided For Next AU Elections, Chair Goes To East Africa

Image
It is another season to have a new occupant in the  Addis Ababa-based headquarters  that has played home to  Moussa Faki  for the better part since 2017 and after his second term, which officially ends in February 2025. Eastern Africa has been favoured in the upcoming AU general elections as they have been chosen to forward names for chair positions. This comes after an announcement from the AU approving the Eastern region to submit candidates for the fiercely coveted post.  After the  Executive Council Ministerial meeting , a decision was made to  rotate top leadership positions of the AU  Commission so that each of the  five regions  would have an equal opportunity to succeed and that if the chair is male, the deputy would be female and vice versa In addition to Kenya's  former premier, Odinga,  another Eastern African contender has so far indicated interest in the position. Fawzia Adam ,  former minister of foreign affa...

Silent Threat of Prostate Cancer: What Men Need To Be Aware of and How To Stay Safe and far From it

Image
Dr. Mark Mulindo sat in his small office, where many lives crossed briefly, leaving him with a sense of unfinished business. Today was different. The usually sterile room was given a hopeful light by the early sun streaming through the window. Mark was getting ready for a big day. He had planned a modest lecture to tell the local men about prostate cancer, a disease that is often misunderstood and surrounded by mystery. Men of all ages started to stream into the room, and Mark saw someone he knew well: John, a man in his early forties who ran a neighbourhood bakery. John was well-known for his kindness; he frequently gave bread to neighbourhood shelters. Still, Mark couldn't help but notice John's faint grimace. Mark said, "Thank you everybody for attending." "We're going to talk about prostate cancer today, which is a topic that isn't commonly discussed but is really significant." A slide showed up on the screen behind him when he pressed a button o...

This morning was a moment for Kenya to be presented before God in what is commonly known as National Prayer Breakfast. The theme for today was 'Hope', that the nation hopes for a positive and bright future that of stability, peace and ensuring a conducive environment for thriving of many aspects, businesses key among them. Not long ago, was the Country's head in the US following an invitation from the longest-serving American politician turned president of the United States. It was a celebration marking 60 years of the cordial relationship that is a close friendship ranging from the 1960s to the present. That visit came with much criticism especially on the part of public resources specifically the part on Kenyans as the taxpayers as it was alleged that the cost of hiring the Dubai-based Royal jet was approximately 200 million. The president today has stated the facts by saying the following. "I have the country's best interests at heart, I initially asked my peopl...

Duale To Politicians- No Ferrying You Anymore

Image
It is always a JKL show every Wednesday evening on Citizen TV. It is a renowned show for the simple reason of inviting influential and key guests to discuss hot and trending topics that leave viewers glued and intrigued into wanting to know more about the real events on the ground. Yesterday panellist was a decorated politician turned minister of defence who is also a close ally of the Head of State, Aden Duale. The moderator, who by the way, is represented by the acronym of the show, Jeff Koinange, is Kenya’s celebrated journalist with vast experience spanning years in the sector. Back to the root of the topic, where concerned secretary, upon discussion and final deliberations with Jeff, happened to disclose a serious takeaway note touching on politicians. According to the minister, military choppers will be far from the reach of politicians, this is what he said. “Jeff, it will no longer be as usual, we are not going to carry politicians on our choppers going forward, and military re...

Duale Gives Insight Into Wrangles Between The DP and The Head of State

Image
Jeff Koinange did not call the show to its finality without 'poking holes' into recent 'house wrangles' within the governing party. His long-term panellist and friend, the Defense Secretary and former majority leader in the National Assembly, Aden Duale, was present to give insight into various events, specifically goodies from the US and the recent growing differences within his party leading to yesterday's knock on Kenya’s greatest media empire. For most of this article, I will focus on the tension within the UDA party and as for goodies from the US, we all know what 'POTUS' (President of the United States) gave us 16 military choppers, 150 armoured military vehicles, and goodies like development money for roads and prisons. Back to the root of the article, yesterday was the moment for every Kenyan to know for sure if there was a split within the ruling party, for we know that Duale is not merely the minister but also a close ally to the head of state, and...

They Have Themselves To Blame, Gareth Unveils England Squad While Leaving Out 3 Key English Players

Image
With the announcement of a daring and thrilling preliminary England squad for the European Championship, Gareth Southgate has embraced the future and moved on from his past. Raheem Sterling's international career has just been ordered to end, while Jordan Henderson is likely gone forever. Even while such omissions were anticipated, Marcus Rashford's absence has shocked English football. Despite having a terrible season for Manchester United, Erik ten Hag has largely kept Rashford as a regular starter. However, Southgate has not spared the striker, punishing him for his startling decline in performance this year and offering this meek defence: "I just feel other players in that area of the game have had better seasons." That concludes it. Attacking options abound for Southgate, as Jarrod Bowen and Anthony Gordon both deserve to be in the starting lineup at Rashford's cost. Along with recalling the brilliant Eberechi Eze, the coach also unexpectedly called up Adam W...
